Barbara HarringtonPTA

Barb started in Physical Therapy as a secretary in a small clinic with one Physical Therapist, where she ran the office and worked as an aide. She realized she enjoyed the patient care better than the office work and went back to school to become a Physical Therapist Assistant.

Shortly before she graduated, she got married and started moving around the country to follow her husband's career. She worked in skilled nursing, outpatient therapy in upper peninsula Michigan. Next, they moved downstate and had their first two daughters while she was working on-call in a skilled nursing facility and outpatient center. She also held a part-time position at a small outpatient center that focused on hands-on treatments and allowed her to study cranio-sacral therapy. Next, they moved to the beautiful Minnesota prairie where her family began the journey in foster care and adoption. They adopted their third daughter here, while working part-time at a local hospital system that provided inpatient acute, skilled nursing, and outpatient care. The next move was to Ohio where she added experience in aqautic therapy and assisted living facilities in addition to other settings. Here they re-entered the foster care system and adopted a baby boy. Her husband's work brought the family to Elk Grove in 2015 and she joined the Central Valley Physical Therapy family. She enjoys being able to help people get healthier and have better lives through therapy.
